National Centre for the Prevention of Family Violence
The Project
Christchurch Women's Refuge is championing the creation of a National Centre for the Prevention of Family Violence, which would bring services related to family violence together in one place. This initiative is still in its infancy.
About the Centre
The multi-purpose centre will provide an integrated family violence prevention services that consists of secure safe accommodation, specialised early intervention services, research, community education and training.
The National Family Violence Prevention Centre responds to the community needs for:
- Diverse community agencies located in one building and collaborating on establishing a sustainable organisation for integrated family violence prevention services
- Integrated innovative family violence prevention approaches and services for the safety and well-being of families, women, children and young people
- Community resource centre that strengthens the inter-agency relationships
- Work with men as partners towards ending family violence
