Support from Aviva

Aviva is available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. We provide specialist services to support people to live a life free from family and sexual violence and overcome their enduring harms.

Every year, Avva supports over 1200 children, young people and adults across Canterbury, and responds to over 4000 phone calls to our emergency line.

We support people of any age, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation who:

Specifically, Aviva provide:

  • 24-hour phone support and information via 0800 AVIVA NOW (0800 28482 669)
  • individually tailored advice, advocacy and safety planning from a qualified family violence specialist
  • Ministry of Justice approved family violence education programmes
  • ReachOut early intervention for people using, or at risk of using, family violence
  • Sexual Violence Team in partnership with START offering crisis support for adults 18 and above and their whānau following either a recent or historical sexual assault
  • support to ensure you have safe accommodation
  • safe@home home security improvements for those at highest risk of repeat family violence
  • Community Development training and opportunities
  • Seuga which is aimed at restoring the wellbeing of Pasifika families
  • advice and information on legal, health and financial issues
  • help applying for a Protection or Parenting Order
  • access to support from other agencies and services
